A Guide for Backpacking in the Wild

Backpacking trips that are unplanned are riskier than the ones that are planned ahead. In the whole planning thing, there are few things to keep in mind:
Test your stamina on hiking trails that are close by. Prepare your body for the miles ahead of it, by staying active and getting enough nutrients, because you’ll need all the energy you can get. Also, try to break into your backpacking boots, so that you avoid trouble with them on the very trip itself.

Grabbing the essentials

Find some informative videos on youtube, related to starting a campfire or setting a tent. Afterward, you can grab your gear and set it up in your backyard. Practice this till you’re satisfied with the results.

You need shoes that will bring comfort to your feet and will make those long trails feel like walking on clouds. If you plan on backpacking on terrains that are rocky or high-grassed, you might want to opt for shoes that are made of rigid and semi-rigid materials. They should go up to your ankles at least, for some extra protection. Dress for the weather. Don’t overdress, if it’s too hot, but don’t underestimate the weather. Usually, in the big cities, the weather is a few degrees hotter than on hiking terrains. You also don’t want to underdress, because of mosquitoes and other bugs. The last thing you want is itchy bites all over you, while you’re trying to sleep.

Practicing your backpacking skills beforehand is something really important when it comes to a few-day backpacking trip.  That way, you will know how much you are physically prepared, and you’ll have a higher chance of a successful hike. When it comes to practice, you can do it in your backyard for starters.
You’ve decided to go backpacking and there are endless miles ahead of you. A great journey that can equally be great if you are going by yourself or with friends. It will be an unforgettable experience, and once it’s over, you’ll want to do it all over again.
