What About Driving?
Hemp plants produce two main compounds. The first is THC, which is what gets you “high,” and the second is CBD, which has great relaxation and even medicinal effects but doesn’t get you high. Currently, CBD is legal in all 50 states and naturally, THC is still illegal in most states. Because of this, people are still looking for trustworthy buying guides when they purchase delta-8 or any product that has THC in it, and one of the areas that can be very confusing is how to travel from one state to another when you’re in possession of one of these products, especially if you fly.

The fact is, when you’re planning on flying on a plane somewhere – anywhere – you cannot bring products with a lot of THC in them, including oils, gummies or edibles, and even ointments or other topical products. If the edibles and ointments have 0.3% THC or lower, however, you can feel free to bring them on the plane.
So, when it comes to traveling overseas, it’s best to leave all of your hemp products, including Delta-8 THC, at home. That being said, let’s take a look at the laws in different states regarding the same thing.
According to the Transport Security Administration (TSA), you can travel with THC products as long as the THC doesn’t make up more than 0.3% of the product. If your product contains more than 0.3% of THC, you are not allowed to bring it on a plane. You might think that if you’re flying to and from states where marijuana has been legalized, it’s alright to bring along products with a bigger percentage of THC in them, but that is not the case.
CBD Is Different
If you’re wondering if the same rules apply to products with CBD in them, the answer is no, they do not. In fact, since CBD is legal in all 50 states and since there is no law regarding how much CBD can be in each of the products, you can feel free to take your CBD products along with you whether you’re flying or driving. Unlike THC, the laws do not restrict the amount of CBD in any given product, so the authorities are likely not to even check your CBD oil or make a big deal out of it.

These things being said, Delta-8 THC can be brought with you on a plane because it does indeed contain 0.3% THC and no more. In fact, this percentage needs to be memorized if you’re planning to travel with Delta-8 or any other hemp product that contains THC. At 0.3% or lower, the product is safe to take with you anywhere. Above 0.3%, it is not. It’s just that simple. You can learn more information about Delta-8 in this article.
Of course, if you are traveling by car, the rules are a little bit different. They can even be a little trickier than flying simply because the rules regarding marijuana and THC products vary so much from state to state. Even if you purchase a product that has THC in it in a state where marijuana is legal, no one can guarantee that the authorities won’t arrest you if the product is discovered in your car once you cross state lines.
The reason for this is simple. Other countries are not as accepting of hemp products as the United States is, and since there is a slim chance that you might get chosen for a random search of your suitcase, it’s best not to take that chance. All countries vary when it comes to finding that a traveler has a hemp product on them, and the punishment can range from a slap on the wrist or literal jail time.
The main thing to remember when flying or driving is to know what the laws are, and don’t push your luck by trying to get away with something that you already know is illegal. In other words, be prepared.
